Video: How to Create a Vision Board
Happy New Year!
I hope you are as excited about this year as I am:) What does the coming year have in store for you? Well, that, my friends, is up to you:)
It is time to look ahead and create a clear vision for your future! It is easy to get so caught up in the day to day that we fail to even take the time to ask ourselves what our vision actually is. When was the last time you asked yourself any of these important questions:
What do you want to get out of this life? Next year? What are your priorities? What are your dreams? How do you want to spend your days? What do you want to do with that amazing body of yours? Where do you want it to take you? What fears do you want to get cozy with so that you can say goodbye to? What limits and edges do you want to expand? What is your vision?
When we fail to get clear on our vision, we have no direction, no signs and no light to illuminate our path. Taking the time to create a clear vision, puts our goals and dreams at the top of our list and demonstrates that we are ready to make them a priority. That is only step one, of course;) Step two, is creating an action plan that moves you in the right direction. Step three is taking small (or huge!) steps every single week and even every single day, that lead you there.
There are different ways to create visions such as brainstorming theme words, writing vision statements from the perspective of your future self (after realizing them) and creating a vision board. These activities are more about the process, than the product, and taking the time to get clear with your future, will launch you miles closer to your dreams and goals.
I have created a short video explaining how I create my vision boards, to give you some inspiration to get started on your own. There is no 'right' way, other than to simply get started! Here is what you will need:
Have fun! Let me know how your own vision board turns out- send me a photo at info@elmhealth.com . Have a vision but not sure how to create a plan to get there? I would love to help! Check out my Online Training Plans or shoot me a message and we can brainstorm:)
Cheers,
Sarah.

Kiss Your Fears Goodbye
![]() |
Ohhhhh Myyyyy Gaaaaaawd! Along for the ride with Jump Master, Daryl of Pacific AirSports in Campbell River.
This weekend, I kissed one of my biggest fears goodbye. Skydiving. It was one of the scariest and most amazing kisses of my life;). Watch my video at the end of this post!
"Nope. Never, ever, ever. Not even going to consider it. Don't even ask me. I. Will. Never. Skydive."

Mind Shift: The Power of Perspective
![]() |
| Deep thoughts by Sarah Seads. Great photo by Karen McKinnon. |
I dropped an egg on my kitchen floor this morning. A raw egg. Ooops. You know that feeling. Shi*.
This year has been full of... surprises for me. You just never know what is around the next bend. For me, it was a new sport, a black diamond XC ski run and a headfirst crash into the boards. 6 months of persistent whiplash symptoms and a scratched race card, things aren't quite turning out how I had expected them to. Shi* happens. I can be pissed off or I can be neutral or I can pick up my rose coloured glasses and let the light in...ahhh...that's better! Of course, I have gone through all of the stages of emotions, it is only natural. But as a 'half full' gal, I chose to fast forward through the negative ones and get to the good stuff. Gratitude- for the health I do have, for the many other ways I can move my body, for the beautiful place I live in and the beautiful people I live with. Racing is fun, but, it is just one small part of this wonderful life. Recently, a new perspective was handed to me...from a card reader. With fear in her eyes, she told me that I should be grateful I had crashed when I did. She told me that if I hadn't jumped out of the tracks and launched headfirst into the snowbank when I did, that I would not have survived the crash at the bottom of the hill. Maybe. Maybe not. But until that moment I hadn't actually seen that perspective at all. Woah. Game changer. She got me thinking that I should not just be positive, but that I should actually be grateful for the experience. Yup. Mind shift. Perspective is powerful stuff.

Mind Games: 10 Tips for your Motivation Toolbox
It's sideways raining...again. I'll go later... I'll go tomorrow... I don't want to go!
Been there? Me too! Yet people are often surprised to hear me even whisper about periods of low motivation let alone announce them to the world. They expect me to shout rah rah rah from the rafters day in and day out. And quite honestly, mostly I do;). But I think it is important to share that I also feel the weight of inertia slowing down my mojo or even threatening to paralyze my body from time to time. It has happened before. It will happen again. And it happens to everyone including me and you.

Mental Strength: Harnessing the Power of Intention
The end of one year and the transition into the next is the perfect time to reflect, reset and reboot. You know I love the energy of a new year! And you likely know that I am a strong believer in the power of intention. We coaching geeks love goals. Dream goals, long term goals, short term goals, weekly and daily goals. We love them all. Why? Because we know how powerful these simple tools for motivation and action really are. No trendy gimmicks. No expensive contracts. No state of the art or latest greatest craze. And definitely no guru's charging your credit card on a monthly basis. Just you and your vision. Nothing fancy.
Intention is a powerful thing. The thoughts that we cultivate day in and day out feed our minds just as the air we breath and the food we eat feeds our bodies. We are not only what we eat. We are, in fact, what we think.
